Bookkeeper/Accountant

Reports to:  Executive Director, Finance Committee

Qualifications:  Basic accounting skills, familiarity with QuickBooks; candidate must complete and pass criminal background check.

Hours:  Approximately 10-15 hours per week on average.  More time may be required during annual audit, tax season, or occasionally during busier construction seasons; less time may be required in the non-construction season.

Duties:  Duties of this position include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Bill payment, i.e. preparation of checks for signature and mailing;
  • Deposit preparation;
  • Payroll and quarterly tax payment;
  • Posting and tracking transactions in QuickBooks;
  • Account reconciliation;
  • Assistance with mortgage servicing occasionally with Affiliated Mortgage Services
  • Working with staff and finance committee to formulate and track annual budget;
  • Generating annual 1099s, W2s, etc.;
  • Advising affiliate on best accounting practices and implementing necessary changes;
  • Generating reports for the Board of Directors and consulting at least monthly with the Board Treasurer prior to Board meetings;
  • Cooperating and assisting during annual financial audit.

Salary:  Hourly rate as agreed upon. Bookkeeper will be an independent contractor

HFHCFI will provide: computer, printer, copier, phone, etc.
