RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
1.Preschool:
a.Work with families to develop transition plans from first steps to developmentalpreschool.
b.Conduct evaluations for speech and language impairment when needed dependent onSLPs current caseload.
c.Serve as LEA representative for Part C (First Steps).
d.Oversee intake procedure for Part C to Part B transitions (children turning 3).
e.Attend transition meetings with IN First Steps families and service coordinators.
f.Receive and manage parent requests for preschool age evaluations .
g.Serve as case manager for preschool age referrals .
h.Facilitate initial and annual case conferences with preschool CCC teams.
i.Serve as LEA representative for Head Start.
j.Serve as LEA representative for Data Manager for ISPROUT (pre-k state testing).
k.Schedule Early Intervention and First Steps Evaluation Conferences.
l.Evaluate early childhood and first steps as case log permits.
m.Assist special education director in overseeing the planning, organizing, andimplementation of education services for preschool aged students.
2.Speech & Language:
a.Assist SLPS as needed with case conferences and evaluations
b.Collaborate with District SLPs and SESS regarding speech/language evaluations,programming, procedures, medicaid billing, ISPROUT testing, and professionaldevelopment.
c.Oversee training, reporting, and compliance with medicaid programs (INMAC, GoSolutions) and serve as LEA representative
d.Assist SLPs in Hearing Screenings at the secondary level
e. Evaluate early childhood and first steps as case log permits
f. Bill Medicaid as appropriate.
3. Other Duties:
a. Serve as SCSC McKinney-Vento Liaison.
b. Attend all required professional development activities and meetings.
c. Facilitate, supervise, and coordinate special education initiatives from the central office
to support and train classified and certified staff.
d. Perform other duties as assigned
LICENSE/EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
○ Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Special Education or related field
○ Certification in Speech and Language Pathology
○ Demonstrates knowledge of special education laws and district policies and procedures.
○ Maintain accurate records.
○ Maintain confidentiality.
○ Ability to develop rapport and interact effectively with students and staff.
○ Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
○ Maintain a respectful environment and open communication with students and staff.
○ Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and ethics.
○ Meet all state and local timelines.
○ Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
