General Description of Position:

This position focuses on the planning and execution of fundraising and external communications functions on behalf of Youth Link Southern Indiana. The Development and Marketing Manager will lead and support a variety of activities within the department, primarily related to community fundraising and program storytelling. Fundraising will include event planning, donor engagement, fund development and database management. Program storytelling will include video, graphic, and general content development for external audiences. This position reports to the Executive Director and will work closely with staff leadership.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Community engagement including donor and volunteer prospecting and cultivation.
  • Produce high quality meaningful collaborative marketing materials and reports.
  • Promotes and advertises programs and services.
  • Develop and design newsletters, videos, annual report, press releases, invitations, op-ed pieces, social media content, and blog posts.
  • Manage communication venues such as email, website, print and all social media platforms.
  • Story-mining via student, faculty, employee, and community partner engagement including stories, photos, videos, and testimony for use in communications.
  • In collaboration with others, identify target audiences, influencers, and partners to drive brand awareness to support organizational objectives, including influencing decision-makers and engaging in strategic partnerships.
  • Create and implement a communications plan that builds awareness of the organization with various stakeholder groups
  • Support preparation of media interactions, draft remarks, and scripted events in a timely manner.
  • Work with Executive Director to develop and implement the organization’s fundraising strategy and build relationships with donors.
  • Donor research and cultivation including communicating with prospective donors, setting meetings, developing communications, and coordinating follow-up.  
  • Ensure stewardship of current and past donors.
  • Database/CRM management support including gift processing and acknowledgements.
  • Event planning and strategy development for Youth Link Southern Indiana events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience marketing or relevant experience
  • 2+ years of experience in development or relevant experience

 

Other Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with database management
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with graphic design and video editing software
  • Excellent writing, editing, and public speaking skills
  • Strong communication and relationship-building ability
  • Participate as a team member in the day to day operations of the Youth Link main office
  • Must demonstrate people management skills. While this position does not oversee any staff, the position will need to work collaboratively with leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to be self-motivated, deadline-driven and extremely detail-oriented including the capability to readily adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Demonstrates ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
