The School of Arts & Letters at Indiana University Southeast (IU Southeast), in collaboration with the School of Business, seeks applications for the position of Professor of Practice in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Planning to spearhead the development of a new Bachelor of Science program in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Planning. This is a twelve-month position with a salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. This appointment has a flexible start date, with the program set to launch for the Fall 2025 academic term.

The successful candidate will be expected to proactively develop and maintain strong connections with the local Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Planning industry to build the new program; teach courses serving the program; and provide service to the program, school, and university. Teaching responsibilities include the following courses: Tourism Planning and Development; Principles of Event Management; and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Evening teaching could be required. This position requires excellent organizational and leadership skills to help with recruiting efforts and to establish and maintain community/industry partnerships.
 
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Tourism, Hospitality, and/or Event Planning industry; effective and strong communication and interpersonal skills; and evidence of forming and maintaining mutually-beneficial relationships with community/industry partners.
 
Desired Qualifications:
A master’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality, and/or Event Planning or a closely-related discipline by the time of appointment; a record of effective teaching in the tourism, hospitality, and/or event planning discipline at the undergraduate level with evidence of teaching effectiveness; experience in creating applied learning experiences and opportunities for students; and experience working in the tourism, hospitality, and event planning industry in the greater Louisville area.
