Research, design, develop, and test mechatronic industrial control systems; create mechanical design documents for parts, assemblies, or finished products; maintain technical project files; implement or test mechatronic design solutions; lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production mechatronic and electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, such us industrial equipment, missile control instrumentation, electron tubes, test equipment, and machine tool numerical controls, applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics; troubleshooting complicated electronic and mechanical equipment to replace or redesign failed components;
combining mechanical and electronic knowledge to repair and reverse engineer complicated mechanical and electronic equipment; read and write blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling mechatronic and electronics units, using knowledge of electronic theory and components; identify and resolve equipment prob; design and test mechatronic and electronics units, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment; adjust or replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry or mechatronic or electronics components; assemble, test, or maintain circuitry or mechatronic or electronic components; maintain system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment; write reports or record data on testing techniques, laboratory equipment, or specifications.
