This position is responsible for developing new deposit, loan, and merchant business and enhancing existing customer relationships.  The focus will be devoted to sales, with calls on prospective customers to develop new business while working with existing customers to retain or expand existing business.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Work closely with bank personnel to source profitable deposit and lending relationships with new customers;
  • Partner with bank personnel to expand bank services to existing customers;
  • Team with other bank professionals on joint sales presentations;
  • At the appropriate time, transition new relationships to other bank personnel for servicing needs;
  • Consult with customers at their place of business in order to understand their business practices and identify their goals and needs;
  • Follow-up with all prospects in a consistent and timely manner;
  • Establish and maintain accurate and timely records of activities and pipeline of new business development efforts;
  • Maintain a presence in “home office” with existing customers; seize opportunities for new business in these locations;
  • Participate in monthly business development meetings to discuss plans, results, how to partner with board members or other associates to increase business, etc.;
  • Maintain current awareness and understanding of appropriate banking laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures;
  • Professionally represent the bank at all times, including at various civic and community events; and
  • Other projects as assigned.
  • This position is expected to understand the significant control procedures and the compliance policies related to day-to-day job duties. All control procedures that this position has responsibility for accomplishing, as well as those for which it has direct oversight, will be accomplished according to policies and procedures.  This position is responsible for understanding and following all federal and regulatory policies, and is responsible for the compliance of all direct reports.  This position is responsible for disclosing to the Asset-Liability Committee all commitments, contracts or other agreements that it enters into or changes, or that it may be aware of from other areas of the company. 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION: 

  • Minimum five (5) years business development or sales experience in a banking environment;
  • Bachelors degree preferred;
  • Technical and regulatory knowledge of products and services;
  • Proficient with Word and Excel;
  • Demonstrated ability to network to build and cultivate profitable relationships;
  • Ability to proactively identify and capitalize on business development opportunities;
  • Successful negotiation and deal management experience;
  • Previous underwriting experience preferred;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all prospects and clients, verbally and in writing, and capable of promoting all products and services;
  • Must have a strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills;
  • Strong organizational, leadership and public speaking skills;
  • Promote a positive and professional appearance; and
  • Self motivated with a strong work ethic.
