Mission: Open Door Youth Services exists to respond to the needs and promote the healthy development of vulnerable children and youth.

The Therapist plays a vital role in the daily and ongoing lives of youth in our residential program.  Open Door Youth Services (ODYS) is a sixteen bed residential facility that provides emergency shelter care and long-term residential treatment to youth ages 10-21, placed by the Department of Child Services and/or Juvenile Probation, or have run away from home or are homeless. 

The ODYS therapist is responsible for ongoing individual, group, and family therapy services to residents within our programs. This role supports residents in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, and positive relationships while maintaining a trauma-informed and strengths-based environment. The Therapist collaborates with program staff, families, and external providers to ensure treatment goals are met and progress is documented accurately.

Open Door is looking for a candidate to provide clinical services at our campus and uphold standards set by the Indiana Department of Child Services, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Services (CARF), and Indiana Medicaid.

The ideal candidate will take pride in their work with the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations, risk assessments, and treatment plan development tailored to each resident’s needs.
  • Provide ongoing individual, group, and family therapy sessions focused on emotional regulation, trauma recovery, social skills, and coping strategies.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups that encourage peer support, communication skills, and conflict resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with residential staff, case managers, and external partners (schools, courts, medical providers, etc.) to ensure continuity of care and integrated support for residents.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review progress, adjust treatment goals, and coordinate discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with licensing standards and agency policies.
  • Support crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed, employing trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
  • Provide psychoeducation and guidance to families to enhance their involvement and understanding of treatment goals.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development to maintain current knowledge of best practices in adolescent behavioral health, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards consistent with licensing boards and organizational values.
  • Gains complete knowledge of Trauma-Informed Treatment: The Restorative Approach to assist with full program integration of the model.
  • Provides training to staff in accordance with agency policies and as needed to assist with ongoing agency practices.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Must receive clinical supervision in accordance with the standards of the Indiana Department of Child Services.

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Hours: 9-5p, Monday-Friday
  • This position responds to crisis situations and may require evening or weekend hours to meet resident, family, or program needs.
  • Residential program environment with occasional exposure to stressful or crisis situations.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $58,656/ annually

Full-Time Employees of Open Door Youth Services are considered employees of Floyd County Government, all Floyd County benefits apply to this position.  Employees of Open Door Youth Services are also eligible to enroll in free virtual telemedicine and mental health services through the Indiana Youth Worker Well-Being Project.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
  • Current licensure (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or equivalent) or eligibility for supervised licensure.
  • Experience working with adolescents or young adults in a residential or similar therapeutic environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, family systems, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to a dynamic residential environment.
  • Upon hire, candidates must complete employee file requirements (outlined by the Office Manager), including a series of background checks, and must obtain a CPR & First Aid Certification, which will both be provided by the organization.
  • All applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
