Transportation & Facilities Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Transportation & Facilities Coordinator supports the day-to-day facility and operational needs of Mustard Seed Thrift on Mission by helping maintain safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained buildings, grounds, equipment, and work areas. The position also serves as a warehouse driver/associate when needed to assist with donation pickups, deliveries, and transportation of merchandise and supplies, and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently while supporting the organization’s needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

• Maintain the daily upkeep, cleanliness, safety, and general condition of Mustard Seed facilities, grounds, equipment, and common areas.

• Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance, repair, safety, or security concerns.
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs within the employee’s skill level.
• Assist with facility projects, repairs, moving, setup, and rearrangement of equipment or furnishings.
• Assist with seasonal facility needs, including snow and ice removal, landscaping, and weather-related tasks.
• Maintain necessary facility supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Coordinate or assist with outside contractors and service providers as directed.
• Respond appropriately to emergency facility needs and urgent maintenance or safety concerns.
• Serve as a warehouse driver/associate when support is needed.
• Operate Mustard Seed vehicle(s) safely and responsibly and follow all applicable traffic laws and vehicle safety procedures.
• Assist with scheduled donation pickups and deliveries.
• Transport donated merchandise, furniture, equipment, supplies, and other materials as assigned.
• Safely load, unload, and secure items during transportation.
• Conduct basic vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Keep organizational vehicles clean, orderly, and properly maintained.
• Maintain required transportation records.
• Assist store locations with facility and operational needs as requested.
• Support special projects, store moves, events, and organizational activities.
• Respond to facility-related requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist with various operational needs.
• Forklift certification desired (must be willing to acquire).

Qualifications

• Must be 25 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Ability to safely operate MST vehicles when serving as warehouse driver/associate.
• Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, transportation, warehouse, delivery, or a related field preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building and equipment maintenance preferred.
• Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
• Dependable and punctual with strong attention to detail.
• Work well with others but able to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with employees, volunteers, and vendors.

Physical & Working Requirements

• The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
• The employee must be able to safely handle heavy or bulky items with assistance when necessary, use basic tools and equipment, operate a vehicle when serving as backup driver, and work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• The position involves travel between Mustard Seed locations and exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
